I created this brand to be uncommon. When I started in the service industry 15 years ago, I knew this was my medium. I also knew that the system itself needed a bit of work, but being how lucrative at the bottom and a money pit is at the top, there was little the industry could do to change the standards.
As a young female in college, I witnessed a lot of discrimination and injustice for many of my co-workers, including myself, as well as a lifestyle that is unsustainable and truly difficult to manage for anyone. For 10 years, I observed the industry to find something to catch my interest enough to dedicate myself to using it for an opportunity to put my ethos into practice. I got a degree in hospitality, certified as a Sommelier, Cicerone and Specialist of Spirits, absorbing all of this delicious information on beverages, I was hooked!
While working as the Southern Californian representative for an amazing distillery out of Kentucky, I harnessed my desire to educate by holding workshops for consumers and service industry workers on our product and also how to use it - In short, cocktail classes. It was in a series of little moments where I witnessed the synapse to the attendees confidence in creating unique and delicious beverages!
After choosing to move back to the east coast to be closer to family, I took that one piece of the business I learned and used it as the key ingredient in launching my own company around edutainment cocktail classes. Starting out on Facebook Live, I got the traction I needed to believe this was actually worth going all-in on.
In mid-2020, after consistent outreach on LinkedIn, I discovered interesting things about the virtual events world. No one had really yet heard of virtual cocktail classes or why they were a key in the success of the events industry during the pandemic.
I soon discovered that the “zoom fatigue” or the “could’ve been an email” mentality was really starting to set in. Working long hours and losing touch with their office mates, the corporate industry was struggling with keeping employees and clients engaged from a distance.
This is where I came in, to make Meetings Suck Less, inspiring conversation that wasn’t about projects, goals, or company deliverables, but as a fun accent that keeps connections ALIVE! I was here to shake up the virtual events world, and over 500 events later, I still do! I aspired to make working with a mixology professional easy and for my win-win-win (client, attendee, brand, or any other stakeholder) mentality to partner with my execution to deliver on my client’s end goals a reality.
